$135,000 Settlement – Passenger on Motorcycle Severely Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident
Motorcycle AccidentCar Accident InjuriesIn 2012, our client was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle when she sustained severe and permanent injuries in a motor vehicle accident. The motorcycle was traveling along Monroe Street in Toledo, Ohio when the defendant driver pulled out in front of it, resulting in a collision. Our client was transported to a nearby hospital to treat her injuries. After an investigation, the defendant driver was found to be at fault for causing the accident and was cited.
Our client was admitted to the hospital to receive medical treatment for a traumatic brain injury, loss of consciousness, memory loss, and abdominal trauma she sustained in the accident. While our client recovered from the initial injuries, due to the TBI she suffered from prolonged memory problems, migraines, dizziness, pain, depression, and anxiety. She also incurred a large amount of medical bills as she required over a year of physical therapy and neurology appointments.
We were retained to assist our client in her recovery after this traumatic accident. We filed suit in the Lucas County Common Pleas Court on her behalf. Due to a successful negotiation, we avoided the need for trial as we obtained a policy limits settlement for our client. The amount we were able to obtain for our client against the defendant, however, was not enough to adequately compensate her for the extent of her injuries and the medical bills she incurred. Luckily, our client was covered under an underinsured motorist policy and we were able to add value to her recovery by obtaining an additional substantial settlement under that policy.
