For more than 42 years, Michael “Mike” Bruno has represented individuals facing some of life’s toughest legal challenges. As a trial attorney at Charles E. Boyk Law Offices, Mike focuses on car accidents, truck accidents, serious personal injury, and insurance litigation, bringing decades of courtroom experience to every case.

Before dedicating his practice to helping injured victims, Mike served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office, where he prosecuted hundreds of felony cases, including two death penalty murder trials. That experience helped shape the trial skills and courtroom confidence he now uses to advocate for injury victims throughout Northwest Ohio.

Mike transitioned to civil litigation in 1989. He has tried more than 100 jury trials and recovered significant verdicts and settlements for his clients, including a $1.25 million verdict against a trucking company on behalf of a seriously injured client. Whether negotiating with insurance companies or presenting a case before a jury, Mike is known for his thorough preparation, practical approach, and unwavering commitment to achieving the best possible outcome.

Mike earned his Bachelor of Science in Communications from Ohio University before receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1983. During law school, he worked as a bailiff for Lucas County Common Pleas Judge George M. Glasser, gaining valuable courtroom experience before beginning his legal career.

His dedication to clients and the legal profession has earned him a 10.0 “Superb” Avvo Rating, recognizing his experience, professionalism, and client service, and an 11-time Ohio Super Lawyers honoree.

Outside the office, Mike enjoys traveling with his wife, chasing grandkids, running, cycling, and cheering on his beloved Detroit Tigers. He’s also a past president of the Italian American Sports Club and is often seen walking his dog, Alfie, around Sylvania.

Experience

Mike Bruno was born in a U.S. Army Hospital in Stuttgart, Germany. Following his father’s discharge from the Army, he and his parents returned to their hometown of Toledo. Mike graduated from Sylvania High School in 1975 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications from Ohio University in 1979. Mike worked his way through law school as a bailiff for Lucas County Common Pleas Judge George M. Glasser.

After graduation from The University of Toledo Law School in 1983, Mike became employed as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the adult felony division of the Lucas County Prosecutor’s office. From 1983 to 1989 Mike prosecuted hundreds of cases including two death penalty murder trials. Since 1989, Mike has almost exclusively handled personal injury and insurance matters. All told, he has tried more than 100 jury trials throughout northwest Ohio, including a recovery of $1.25 million against a trucking company for a client seriously injured at a truck stop.

Mike and his wife live in Sylvania, Ohio, and have three sons. Mike is a past president of the Italian American Sports Club. He enjoys reading, racquet sports, playing guitar, walking his dog Alfie, and is a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers.
