Winter Driving Safety Tips From ODOT

In our January edition of our firm newsletter, The Boyk Bulletin, we printed some winter driving tips from ODOT that will hopefully help prevent a car accident in snowy and icy weather. Here are those tips:

1.) When there’s snow on the road, drive well below the posted speed limit and leave plenty of room between cars.
2.) Watch out for black ice: take your time when approaching intersections, off-ramps, bridges and shady areas, even if they appear dry.
3.) Be aware of limited visibility.
4.) Give snowplows plenty of room to work. The plows are wide and sometimes cross the center line.
5.) Only pass a snow plow if you absolutely must, and if you do, take extreme caution and be aware of the snow cloud it is producing.
