Charles Boyk Law Veterans Scholarship Winner is Brendan Bushbaker
Charles E. Boyk Law Offices, LLC is proud to support the servicemen and women who help make this country great. Since 2015, the Boyk Law Veterans Scholarship Program has been open to those who have served in the Armed Forces or are children of U.S. Veterans. The Boyk Law Veterans Scholarship is intended to help relieve the financial stress of pursuing higher education.
The number of qualified applicants made our selection incredibly difficult. After careful consideration, we are excited to announce that Brendan Bushbaker has been selected as the 2022 Boyk Law Veteran Scholarship winner!
Brendan grew up in the small farm town of Armada, MI. After high school, he joined the US Marine Corps, serving four years as a radio operator stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. Operating communication equipment in a warzone can be dangerous because the enemy can track the radio signal to identify your position.
During his time in the Corps, Brendan developed a way to remotely control radios from a safe distance without fear of being shelled by enemy fire.
Brendan’s innovative new method is still utilized by the Marines and earned him the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his advancement in radio warfare.
In 2020, Brendan was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant and turned his attention toward furthering his education. He enrolled at Michigan State University to study Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics.
Brendan volunteers at events for the Student Veteran Resource Center and teaches students with disabilities to write computer programs. He currently works with a company that makes dispatching software for EMS/Policemen/Firemen. He hopes to one day work in research at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams on campus at Michigan State, where he hopes to find cutting-edge discoveries in the world of nuclear physics.
