Toledo Bicyclist Struck by Motorist, Thrown from Bicycle to Street, Suffers Ankle, Knee, and Back Injuries, Receives $275,000 Settlement

On a morning in June, 2018 our client woke up to what seemed like a normal day. An avid bicyclist, our client began his morning by cycling to a local park. However, on his return trip, a driver of an automobile, distracted by a cellphone, failed to stop at a stop sign. As a result, our client was knocked from his bicycle and thrown to the street below.

The driver of the automobile immediately became hostile towards our client by way of mocking his injury, cursing at him, and leaving the scene of the accident before emergency responders could arrive.

When asked how this injury effected their life, our client responded “the injury has impacted me in many ways, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Physically, it has greatly limited my ability to ride a bike, pick up or run and play with my grandson, do household chores, or participate in recreational activities.”

Despite the amount of treatment records, insurance negotiations, and investigation required to get to the bottom of our client’s matter, our attorneys were able to quickly reach a $275,000 settlement for our client. Because of this, our client has been able to regain their financial independence and return to the track to normalcy again.
