$750,000 SETTLEMENT– Golf Cart Accident Causes Two Broken Knees and Broken Foot

Our client was a retired man who was on a golfing trip with friends in North Carolina. He was putting on the green when his playing partner mistakenly ran him over with his golf cart. The partner panicked and backed over him a second time. When this occurred, our client was sucked under the golf cart which caused both of his kneecaps to be fractured. The result was multiple surgeries and 10 days in the hospital. Further, our client was never able to play golf again and could only walk with a walker.
The first attorney was discharged, and we were retained 6 months before the North Carolina statute of limitations. We added value by ordering the medical records and having our medical paralegal do a record review. The orthopedic surgeon who performed on our client was not willing to help, so our office found another doctor who examined the client and wrote a report. We found the insurance of the defendant. After issues of determining liability, our firm partnered with co-counsel in North Carolina. A lawsuit was filed, discovery was exchanged, and all depositions were taken. A month before the trial was to take place, we obtained a settlement for our client.
