$150,000 Settlement – Woman Suffers Broken Shoulder and Elbow Due to Fall at Apartment Complex
Premises LiabilityIn 2016, our client sustained multiple injuries when she was injured at her apartment complex. As our client was entering her apartment building, she tripped and fell over a metal plate that had been improperly placed in the entryway. Immediately after the fall, our client experienced severe pain in her right arm and shoulder. Emergency medical services were called to the apartment building and they transported our client to a nearby hospital to treat her injuries.
At the hospital, it was determined that our client had sustained a broken shoulder and elbow in the fall. Due to the extent of her injuries, our client was required to undergo two separate surgical procedures in order to repair the injuries. Nearly a year after the surgeries, she was still experiencing a substantial amount of pain and limited mobility of her arm. Prior to this accident, our client was a 63-year-old widow who lived on her own with no assistance. After the accident, she was forced to rely significantly on home care nurses to assist her. Our client feared that she would be unable to continue living on her own due to the limitations she now experienced.
