$100,000 Settlement – Pedestrian Hit by Car on Sidewalk Suffers Concussion and Rotator Cuff TearCar Accident Injuries
While outside on his lunch break, our client was seriously injured when he was hit by a car. Our client had been standing on the sidewalk outside his place of employment when the defendant driver lost control of her vehicle, slid through a red light, struck the curb, went up onto the sidewalk, and struck our client. Our client was violently thrown into the air before he was tossed into the side of the building. Emergency medical services arrived on the scene and transported our client to a nearby hospital to assess his injuries.
At the hospital, our client was found to have sustained a concussion, right knee sprain, and tear to his rotator cuff. As a result of the injury to his shoulder, our client was forced to undergo surgery. Our client then needed months of physical therapy and had to deal with residual pain from the injury for a significant period of time. Not only did our client suffer physical injuries, but he also incurred substantial medical bills and lost wages as he was unable to work for an entire year.
Due to a successful negotiation, we avoided the need for our client to ever set foot in a courtroom as we obtained a satisfactory settlement for him. The amount we were able to obtain for our client from the defendant’s automobile liability policy was not enough to adequately compensate him for the extent of his injuries. Luckily, our client was covered under an underinsured motorist policy and we were able to add value to his recovery by obtaining an additional settlement under that policy.
