$100,000 Settlement – Man Sustains Facial Fractures and Whiplash in Hit and Run
Car Accident InjuriesIn 2020, our client was traveling near the intersection of Upton Avenue and Central Avenue in Toledo, Ohio, when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident. As our client was traveling southbound on Upton Avenue, he proceeded through a green light and made a left turn onto Central Avenue. As he made the left-hand turn, another driver ran a red light on Central Avenue and smashed into the driver’s side of our client’s vehicle. Our client was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital to assess his injuries. After the collision, the driver of the car that caused the accident emerged from his vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Authorities were unable to locate him.
At the hospital, our client was diagnosed with numerous facial fractures, a concussion, whiplash, and a lumbar sprain, and he also required stitches due to a deep laceration to his neck. While our client was able to be discharged from the hospital the same day, he returned to the emergency room the following day due to an uncontrolled headache and fracture-related pain. To monitor the healing of his facial fractures, our client followed up with a plastic surgeon. Upon follow up, our client was required to undergo surgery to repair his broken zygomatic arch.
Our client reached out to our firm shortly after the accident for assistance in his recovery. Luckily, he was covered under an uninsured motorist policy through his own auto insurance, and since the driver of the car was unable to be located, our client was able to recover under that policy. Due to a successful negotiation, we were able to avoid the need for him to undergo stressful litigation and we were able to obtain a satisfactory policy limits settlement for him.
