Settlements, Verdicts & Awards

We work hard to obtain maximum compensation for our clients. Constant communication, tough negotiating and expert trial skills have resulted in us obtaining millions of dollars in settlements for the injured.

Here are just a small portion of the damages we were able to collect on behalf of our clients. Due to the confidentiality clauses in some settlement agreements, we cannot share detailed information about many of our biggest cases on our website.

CONFIDENTIAL SETTLEMENT – 78-Year-Old Woman Requires Multiple Surgeries After Driver Strikes Her Vehicle

While traveling east on US 223, our client was struck by another vehicle who was attempting to illegally turn left onto US 223. The cars collided and both received heavy damage, with our client’s vehicle requiring the Jaws of Life to be used for her to exit. Our client’s vehicle was totaled. Our client was taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital by EMS. She was evaluated and found to have four different fractures in her leg, a punctured lung, broken sternum, broken wrist, and a broken ankle. She required multiple surgeries on her ankle. She also required surgery on the vertebrae in her neck. Our client requires long-term rehabilitation and has to remain dependent on others for the remainder of her life.

Our client, who had retired 6 months prior to this incident, came to our firm for help with her case and treatment. Andrea Young and her team helped our client during her treatment, negotiations, and ultimate settlement with the insurance company. Our firm referred her to a plastic surgeon who gave a report on our client, which allowed us to receive damages past the policy limitation. The report showed permanent and substantial physical deformities our client must suffer from. The firm also created a “day in the life” video, where we showed how our client must suffer daily and how her life changed. After our firm prepared a mediation statement laying out the entire accident and treatment of our client, she agreed to a large confidential settlement which will help her continue to get the treatment she needs.

$100,000 POLICY LIMIT SETTLEMENT – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Jeep

Our client was walking through a marked crosswalk when a driver made a left-hand turn into our client’s walkway. The driver did not see our client and ended up colliding with his person. Following the collision, our client was transported from the scene via ambulance and was treated at a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he had suffered a skull fracture and was without brain function for several days before he ultimately passed. The surviving family contacted our office to pursue a wrongful death action against the at-fault driver. Attorney Mike Bruno and his pre-litigation team were able to procure the $100,000 policy limits from the other party’s insurance carrier for the surviving family. While any amount of money is little compensation for the loss of a loved one, this settlement can provide the family some relief for the financial burden that resulted from the driver’s negligence.

$100,000 POLICY LIMIT SETTLEMENT – Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle Requires Knee Reconstruction Surgery

This accident occurred in 2020 when our client was a passenger in a vehicle that was traveling through a four-way intersection in Henry County, Ohio. At the same time, a semi-truck approached this intersection, stopped at the posted stop sign, but then continued into the intersection when our client’s vehicle had the right-of-way. The semi-truck driver’s failure to yield resulted in our client’s vehicle to collide head-on with the front passenger sign of the semi-truck. The Henry County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and cited the at-fault party for failure to yield the right-of-way. Our client was transported from the scene via ambulance to a nearby hospital for her injuries. She had complaints of chest, pelvic, face, left ankle pain, and the paramedics described an “obvious deformity to her left ankle.” Our client was diagnosed with an extensive list of injuries including complex regional pain syndrome (CPRS), fracture of her left foot, post-traumatic migraine headaches, mild traumatic brain injury, insomnia, as well as other significant injuries. Our client has sought treatment for several years, and her doctors have noted that the client’s CPRS will continue to cause her difficulty with daily activities. CPRS can last a lifetime and will require consistent follow up treatment even if the client is someday able to go into remission.
The client contacted our office to help guide her through her legal recovery action. After taking depositions and an unsuccessful mediation, Attorney Charles Boyk and his litigation team were ultimately able to secure a $225,000 settlement for our client prior to the case proceeding to trial.

Our client was driving eastbound when he approached the intersection of Monroe Street and South Cove Boulevard. Our client’s lane of travel had the right-of-way through this intersection, so he proceeded through it. At the same time, the at-fault party failed to yield the right of way and also proceeded into the intersection, resulting in a powerful impact between the two vehicles. Due to the at-fault party’s speed at time of the collision, our client’s vehicle was forced off the roadway and eventually came to a stop on a nearby sidewalk. The Toledo Police Department responded to the scene and cited the at-fault party for failure yield the right of way at a stop sign. A few days after the crash, the client was still experiencing great pain in his chest, shoulder, ribs, neck, and back. After seeking medical attention, the client was diagnosed with numerous injuries including several disc bulges throughout the cervical region in his back. Additionally, it was later discovered the client had suffered mild to moderate hearing loss in his left ear. The client now requires the assistance of hearing aids.
Shortly after his accident, the client turned to our office. Charles Boyk and his pre-litigation team immediately started working on this case.
