Boyk Law Welcomes Katelyn Thatcher – Litigation Paralegal
Kate grew up in Findlay, Ohio. She attended Findlay
High School and then on to the University of Toledo,
graduating in May 2025 with a degree in Paralegal
Studies.
“I liked the idea of going into law, but I wasn’t sure
about the idea of going to law school specifically,”
says Kate. “I’m happy doing what I’m doing now.
I would love to go to law school if it wasn’t so
expensive.”
She had an internship as a paralegal with a Family
Law practice in Sylvania. Even though she was
offered a full-time position after graduation, she says
that family law (divorces, custody battles, and their
consequences) was not the right fit for her, and she
began looking for a position with another firm.
“Anytime you’re looking up personal injury lawyers in
Toledo, says Katelyn, “Charles Boyk Law is one of the
first firms you see… When a position popped up at
Boyk Law, I applied for it. And then I met with Attorney
Mike Bruno, and it sounded like a good fit,” says Kate.
“I was nervous before I came here, but I remember
texting my mom after my first week, saying, I love
everyone here. They’re all super nice! I loved the dogs
in the office. I thought that was the coolest thing
ever.”
Everyone is nervous when they start a new job, but
Kate says she noticed something special about Boyk
Law right away. “I could just be myself, and I liked
how many people were here. Everyone has a different
personality, and everyone gets along here, which I
love… That’s pretty impressive in an office of almost
40 employees.”
Outside of work, Kate likes to watch TV, with her
friends and roommates, especially “Dancing With the
Stars”. “My friends and I get together and watch it,”
she says.
She also enjoys scrolling TikTok, looking for arts and
craft projects. “I get lots of ideas for stuff on there,”
says Kate. “I like to do anything artsy.”
Her parents still live in Findlay, as does her brother,
who recently had a baby, so her duties as a new
aunt take her back home regularly. “That’s my main
reason for going home, and to see my parents. I
like being in Findlay, but I also like being around my
friends here.
Kate also has two dogs back home in Findlay, Coda
and Millie; both are mini poodles. “I wanted a dog,
and my mom agreed, because Millie was a small,
one-pound dog. But then she was often bored all
by herself, so we had to get Coda, and he was the
complete opposite. She’s chill, and he runs all over the
house.”
“They are supposed to be my dogs, but when I moved
out, my mom decided she would keep them, even
though she never liked dogs,” explains Kate. “Every
once in a while, I’ll make a joke about taking them
back.”
Millie has already visited the Boyk Law Offices, and we
can’t wait to meet Coda
