Study Show Children As The Majority Of Dog Bite Victims
Study Show Children As The Majority Of Dog Bite Victims

Every year in the United States 800,000 dog bites require medical attention and 31,000 people have to undergo reconstructive surgery. The majority of these victims are children. In fact, the study shows that out of all the dog bites recorded in the U.

S. that three quarters of them occur in children who are under ten years old.

The average age of children receiving facial bites is 3.9 years old. The dog is usually one that the child is familiar with.

If it is a second attack by the dog it is likely to be more of a serious injury. Once a dog bites a child it is recommended that the dog be removed from the household. Also recommended in families with dogs and small children is that there be boundaries and a no crawl/walk zone around where the dog eats.
