Radio Flyer Recalls Electric Wagons Due to Injury Hazard

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a recall of about 5,000 “Radio Flyer eWagons”.   These children wagons are battery-operated. When force is applied to the wagon’s electric handle, the motor activates to power the wagon.  Reports have been made that the wagon’s motor is activating unintentionally, posing an injury hazard to children.

The products were manufactured in China and imported by Radio Flyer, Inc.  The wagons were sold online by Radio Flyer and at Toys “R” Us stores nationwide from August 2017 through January 2018.  Parents and care providers should immediately stop using this product.  The product can be returned for a full refund.

According to the Academic Pediatric Association, approximately 18,000 children younger than 5 years old are brought the emergency room annually, because of injuries associated products such as strollers and baby carriers.  About 25% of those children suffered serious injuries such as concussions or traumatic brain injuries. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has implemented new mandatory federal safety standards for these products to address many of the risks to children. There are strict federal regulations governing the manufacturing of children’s products to protect against injuries from dangerous and defective products.

Parents and care providers should report dangerous products and product-related injuries to the CPSC by going online to or calling CPSC’s Hotline at 800-638-2772.
