Crashes On Toledo Roadways During Snow Emergency

As of 1:30 p.m. on Monday, the Toledo Police Department has closed several roads.

Interstate-75 Southbound from the state line to I-280 has been closed to treat the icy roadway.

Road crews are out in the frigid weather, detouring motorists onto alternative roads.

Southbound US-23 at US-223 has also been closed because of numerous crashes.

13 ABC has reported that there were minor injuries in some of these crashes.

We are hoping that the road closures may serve as a warning to drivers as they head out. While the Level 3 Snow Emergency has lifted as of 2 p.m. on Monday, the roads are still very slick and dangerous.

If you must report to work, please follow the below tips we have listed.

These safety precautions can help ensure that you are taking all of the necessary precautions when driving on these icy and snowy roads.

  • Clear off your entire vehicle – don’t leave snow on top of your roof or hood. It can blow onto your windshield or windows creating blind spots as you drive
  • Drive at reduced speed – whether you have 4-wheel drive or not, please drive at a reduced speed that will help to prevent you from losing control of your vehicle
  • Give yourself extra time – there is no doubt that it will take you a longer amount of time to reach your destination; leave early so you can take the necessary time on the roads
