Grocery Store Fall Leaves Father of Disabled Son Forever Changed

A routine shopping trip changed the life of our
client forever when he slipped and fell on what is
believed to be a pile of cans on a wet floor in a local
grocery store. The impact caused him to strike
his head with significant force. Although he was
alert following the incident, his neurological status
deteriorated rapidly.

He was rushed to the hospital and required
life-saving brain surgery in the Neurological ICU.
The treating neurosurgeon has directly attributed
his severe injuries, including a skull fracture and
traumatic brain bleed, to the fall.
In a painful turn of events, the rehabilitation center
where he was supposed to recover failed in its duty
of care. Our client suffered from nursing home
neglect, which worsened his already critical condition
and set back his recovery.

Once an active and independent father who was
the primary caregiver for his disabled son, he now
struggles with speech and has limited mobility on
his right side. He has been undergoing intensive
rehabilitation since August, but the family’s future
has been altered by this preventable accident and
the subsequent neglect.

Catastrophic Injuries: Dodge Charger Slams Into Barrier
Our client was a passenger in a vehicle driven by
a Michigan resident. While navigating a sloped,
curved section of road made dangerously slick by
rain, the driver lost control. The vehicle veered off
the roadway and slammed into a concrete center
barrier with tremendous force. The impact was so
violent that the airbags deployed, and our client
was knocked unconscious.

The client sustained a catastrophic list of injuries,
including five broken ribs, a broken scleral contact
lens in her eye, liver damage, a partially collapsed
lung, and a pancreatic injury. These injuries
required an extended hospital stay, and her
recovery is ongoing. She continues to receive
treatment for her fractured ribs and lung injury,
which makes it difficult and painful to take deep
breaths.

Lack of Supervision Leads to Sexual Assault on a Minor
Our client was a resident at a behavioral reform
facility. Unfortunately, while there, he was bullied
by some of the other residents. He made
numerous reports to the facility staff and counselors
who responded, “There was nothing they could do.”
One day, our client was returning from a basketball
game when three boys attacked and sexually
assaulted him. Our client was supposed to be
supervised by facility staff at the time of the attack.
As a result of this incident, our client has serious
psychological damage, including graphic nightmares,
traumatic flashbacks, and PTSD.
