CONFIDENTIAL SETTLEMENT – Semitruck Driver Seriously Injured After Collision with Another Semitruck
Our client was pulled over in the right lane of the interstate highway with the hazard lights of her semitruck on because she heard a noise that led her to believe she had mechanical issues with her truck. Her fiancé, who drove a semitruck for the same employer and is also our client, was also experiencing mechanical issues and was pulling over behind our client’s semitruck. A third semi-truck approached from behind at a high rate of speed, crashing into the rear semitruck, which then collided with our client’s semitruck. Our client was transported to the hospital as a trauma alert where she was hospitalized for eight days undergoing burn debridement and wound repair surgeries. She was then transferred to another hospital for eleven days of rehabilitation. As a result of the collision and explosion 10-19% of her body was covered in burns and she was unrecognizable to her family. Our client has had ongoing treatment with dozens of medical providers and specialists for her physical and mental injuries, many of which are permanent injuries.
