$235,000 SETTLEMENT – Dog Escapes and Attacks Woman Causing Serious Injuries
Dog Bite InjuriesIn July 2022 our client was outside of her home in Perrysburg, Ohio, when this incident occurred. Our client had been walking in the area between her home and her neighbor’s home. At the same time, her neighbor was attempting to put his dog out on a lead. The dog noticed our client walking and managed to slip free from his owner’s control. The dog ran after our client and latched onto her ankle and calf. Eventually the dog’s owner was able to regain control of the dog and stop it from further attacking our client. As a result of this attack, our client sustained several serve lacerations, tears, and puncture wounds to her calf and ankle. Additionally, the dog severed part of our client’s Achille’s tendon and the wound in that area was so deep that her Achille’s tendon was visible. One of the wounds then became infected and required our client to need a wound vac. Our client also was required to have multiple surgeries to repair the injury to her ankle. Following the attack our client required counseling as she began to have significant anxiety regarding dogs.
When our client contacted us, we knew it was our job to assist our client, who had suffered a great deal, the compensation she deserved for this awful incident. Charles Boyk and his pre-litigation team immediately got to work on the case. Once our client was done treating, we presented a demand for settlement to the dog owner’s insurance company and through negotiations were successful in obtaining a $235,000 settlement for our client.
