Massive Pileup on the Ohio Turnpike
On December 23, 2022, nearly fifty vehicles were involved in a crash on I-80 eastbound in Erie County, Ohio. As a result of the pileup, there were four fatalities and multiple injuries. Our office represents a vehicle that included a family of four. As they were traveling on I-80, a semi-truck jack-knifed and crossed three lanes of traffic. As a result, the vehicle containing our clients was smashed into from behind by two other vehicles. Our clients became trapped against a semi-truck and had to be extracted. The injuries involved a broken foot, torn ligaments, stitches, and a head injury.
Finger Amputated Due to Work Injury
Our client was on the job operating a lathe machine. The machine clogged, and as our client worked to dislodge the clog from the outside of the machine, his hand got sucked in, and his middle finger was amputated. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where an attempt was made to sew on the tip of his finger. Ultimately the finger could not be saved, and further amputation was required. Our office is pursuing a workers’ compensation claim and is investigating whether a violation of a specific safety regulation occurred.
School Liability
Our office represents a minor child that was picked up from school by a family member and was subsequently severely harmed. The school released the child to this family member despite being aware of a no-contact order against this family member and strict orders that this person is not allowed at the school. The child was beaten and left with a broken arm.
