The dangers of Actos | Toledo Ohio Actos lawyer

The oral diabetes prescription drug Actos (pioglitazone) has been linked to an increased risk of bladder cancer, heart attack, congestive heart failure, heart disease, and death.  As a patient who was prescribed Actos, either for diabetes glucose management or any other reason, you need to be aware of the Actos health risks.  If you or a loved one has suffered from Actos bladder cancer, then you should consider filing an Actos lawsuit.  Likewise, if you or a loved one has suffered from an Actos heart attack, Actos congestive heart failure, Actos heart disease, or Actos death, you should consider filing an Actos lawsuit.

Actos and related drugs are used to treat type-2 diabetes by lowering blood glucose levels and increasing the body’s sensitivity to insulin.  Actos is a member of a class of drugs known as thiazolidinediones and is manufactured by the Takeda Pharmaceutical Company and co-marketed by Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals.  Actos is one of the best selling drugs in the United States, and there have been well over $2 billion dollars in sales since the drug went on the market.

Due to concerns as to whether Actos is safe, the FDA has asked the makers of Actos to put a “black box warning” on the Actos box, which is the strongest label change that can be added to a drug.  Research continues, and there is a great possibility that there may be an Actos recall in the future.  There is no question about the negative Actos health risks, as France and Germany both pulled the drug completely off the market in 2011.  Studies have shown that patients on Actos for more than a year had a 40% increased risk of bladder cancer compared to those who never took the drug.  The greatest risk for Actos bladder cancer occurs in those individuals who have taken Actos for 24 months or more, although anyone who has suffered an Actos injury can file an Actos lawsuit.

If you or a loved one has experienced Actos cancer or Actos heart problems, you may be entitled to monetary compensation, including payment for past medical expenses, future medical expenses, past lost income, future lost income, lost earning capacity, pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of consortium, emotional anguish, or even wrongful death.  As more and more has been discovered about Actos dangers, the number of Actos lawsuits has continued to rise year after year.

If you or a loved one have suffered any type of Actos health problems, it is important that you contact an attorney right away to preserve your legal rights.  The law places time limits on when an injured person can bring as lawsuit after an injury (called the “statute of limitations”), so you must act quickly to avoid waiving your right to compensation.

If you have experienced the negative impacts of Actos bladder cancer, Actos heart attack, Actos congestive heart failure, or Actos heart disease, you should contact the Charles Boyk Law Offices, LLC right away.  We can be reached toll free at 1-800-637-8170.  Our experienced attorneys and staff are here to help get you the compensation you deserve.
