June Is National Safety Month

The National Safety Council is promoting National Safety Month (NSM), and asks for organizations to participate by helping to educate and influence behaviors that will prevent injuries and death. This year’s NSM theme is “Safety Starts with Me,” as people should feel a personal responsibility for their own safety, and the safety of their coworkers, family and friends. This month is all about created a “sense of ownership of safety by all,” making everyone in the organization a safety leader.

Organizations that wish to participate in NSM can visit the National Safety Council website for downloadable materials including:

  • National Safety Month materials checklist
  • Social Media Messages to share with friends, family and coworkers
  • Purchase National Safety Month promotional items

Weekly Themes of National Safety Month:

  • Week 1: Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls
  • Week 2: Employee Wellness
  • Week 3: Emergency Preparedness
  • Week 4: Ergonomics

Each week there will be downloadable materials that fit in with the theme. You can find materials for this week’s theme, Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls, on the website. There is a comprehensive hazard checklist used for ladder safety for work and home.

Our office will take part in spreading awareness throughout the month as we believe education is the best way to prevent injury. Visit our blog for more information regarding National Safety Month, and continue to check back in to the National Safety Council website as well.
