Failure To Yield Causes Fatal Crash In Hancock County
Failure To Yield Causes Fatal Crash In Hancock County

At 5:30 on Monday morning, a fatal crash happened on CR 330 in Hancock County. The crash occurred just north of CR 216 and happened between a grain truckĀ and a Ford Escape.

The Deputies say that the Ford Escape driven by Craig Scalf was westbound on CR 216 and the semi-truck was traveling northbound on CRĀ 330. The accident occurred when the driver of the Ford EscapeĀ failed to stop at a stop sign, hitting the tractor-trailer.
The driver of the Ford Escape was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. Our thoughts are with the family as they go through this difficult time.

CR 330 was closed after the accident as the semi lost its load of corn on the road. Cleanup and investigation will take place while the road remains closed.

Legal Issues

The at-fault individual in this accident appears to be the driver of the Ford Escape, as they failed to yield at a stop sign. We are not sure if the driver of the tractor-trailer, James Cole, has been injured in the accident, but we would recommend that they contact a lawyer to ensure that they take the proper steps if planning to pursue an injury claim.
