The Boyk Brief posted two new episodes recently including our 50th podcast. Episode 49 features a conversation with Chief Scientist Carl
Nelson and Chief Education Officer Sloan Eberly Mann from Imagination Station, to find out more about the Toledo Science Center and the upcoming Total Eclipse of the sun occurring on April 8, 2024. All of North America will see a partial eclipse, but only a narrow path through the United States and Mexico will experience total darkness. The Toledo area is at the northern edge of totality, where the moon will
completely block the sun. Even residents of Sylvania and other nearby communities are outside the path of totality and won’t be able to view the eclipse safely without protective glasses. Tourists from other areas are expected to visit Toledo to view this once-in-a-lifetime event which won’t happen again in this area until 2099. Episode 50 of the Boyk Brief welcomed Larchmont Elementary School Principal Keri Sharp and School Psychologist Sarah Darrow to talk about Janie’s Pantry, a program designed to provide snacks and other food to hungry students. It has since expanded in its first year to also assist the students’ families by providing a source of free food, cleaning supplies, and
personal hygiene products. Janie’s Pantry is funded by Charles Boyk Law Offices and named in honor of Chuck’s late mother-in-law.
