RECIPE: Gobble Worthy Thanksgiving Gravy
INGREDIENTS:
– 3 tbsp. butter
– 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
– 1 cup turkey pan drippings
– 2 cup low-sodium chicken broth (or turkey stock)
– Kosher salt
– Freshly ground black pepper
– 1 tsp. freshly chopped thyme
– 1 tsp. freshly chopped sage
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Mix in flour with a whisk and cook until golden brown and then slowly mix in the pan drippings.
2. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer gently until gravy thickens.
3. Add fresh herbs, and slowly mix in 1 cup broth. Increase heat to a simmer. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
4. After 10 minutes, gradually add more broth if gravy is too thick. Adjust seasoning as necessary.
Bonus Tip – If your gravy is too thin, mix cornstarch and water to form a thick paste, then add a little at a time into your gravy until it thickens.
