New Ohio Law Gives Childhood Sexual Abuse Victims More Time to File a Claim

The Ohio Legislature just passed a new law, and it could make a big difference for people who have experienced sexual abuse as kids. Here’s what you need to know:

1. If someone was sexually abused when they were under 18 years old, they now have until they turn 30 to take legal action against the person who hurt them.

2. If someone has a disability or physical challenge and was abused before they turned 21, they also have until they’re 30 to pursue legal action.

3. If someone was abused after they turned 18, they have one year from the date it happened or from the day they find out who the abuser was to take legal action.

This new law means that many more people who were abused as kids might have a chance to seek justice.

Charles Boyk Law handles a lot of cases like this. If you think you might have a claim, we’re here to talk and help you figure out your options.
