New Attorney Joins Boyk Law Team
Attorney Zackary Shaffer has joined the talented team of lawyers at Charles Boyk Law Offices. Zac was born in Toledo but moved and grew up in Pemberville, Ohio. He played football and was on the track team at Eastwood High School. His mother was a nurse, and his dad is a retired Toledo Police officer.
Zac’s family enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together. Zac was drawn to study law because he likens practicing law to the challenge of putting a puzzle together. “Assembling the pieces of evidence in their correct place is the constant challenge to get the best result for our clients”, he says.
Zac graduated from the University of Toledo with a dual major in Law & Social Thought and Political Science. He got his Law Degree from the University of Toledo College of Law. Zac initially thought about pursuing Health Care law, until he clerked in a personal injury firm.
He passed the bar in 2019 and accepted a position with a firm in Medina, Ohio where Zac worked on a variety of cases including Employee Discrimination, Worker Compensation, Wrongful Termination, and Personal Injury.
He noticed the procedural and attitude differences in the legal communities of Metro Cleveland and Toledo. Cleveland area lawyers are more cut-throat, and everything is very structured and punctual. The “Toledo Way” is more cooperative even between opposing attorneys. Even though you’re working toward contrary goals, lawyers can still maintain a healthy civil relationship with the opposition.
Zac returned to the Toledo area in 2020 when he accepted a position with Levy and Levy, a local firm, handling family and domestic law cases, as well as some criminal law. He worked there for almost two years before returning to work on personal injury cases at a firm he interned with during law school.
We are very happy that Zac recently joined the team at Charles Boyk Law. He is working on our pre-litigation cases, taking client calls, monitoring their treatment, and negotiating with insurance adjusters. Zac enjoys working at Boyk Law which has a very welcoming environment and staff who want to work together in the “Toledo Way”
to help our clients.
