As our client was traveling eastbound along I-475 in Toledo, Ohio, he sustained numerous injuries when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident. As traffic slowed near the Douglas Road entrance ramp, our client slowed with the flow of traffic. The defendant driver, however, failed to notice the change in the speed of traffic and rear-ended our client. The impact of the collision forced our client into oncoming traffic and he was subsequently struck by another car. After an investigation, the defendant was found to be at fault for causing the accident and was issued a citation for failure to control by the Toledo Police Department.
At the hospital, our client was diagnosed with a closed head injury, severe whiplash, and an injury to his left shoulder. After the accident, our client suffered from severe and debilitating pain throughout his neck, back, and shoulder for months. In attempts to avoid surgical intervention our client underwent months of physical therapy and steroid injections. Unfortunately, these less invasive measures failed to mitigate our client’s pain and at that point surgery was recommended for his shoulder injury. After the surgery, our client was required to wear a sling on his arm for two months and he resumed physical therapy for another six weeks. Even though his injury healed, our client still experienced significant continued pain that limited his mobility and made it difficult for him to partake in activities he once did with ease. At the time of the accident, our client was without health insurance, meaning the substantial amount of medical bills and expenses he incurred put a particularly severe financial strain on him.
Our client contacted us to assist him in his recovery just days after the accident occurred. We completely avoided the need for trial due to a successful negotiation, and we obtained a substantial settlement for our client that will go a long way to assist him in his recovery and account for the medical expenses he incurred.
