$250,000 Settlement – Cyclist Hit by Car Sustains Numerous Severe Injuries
Car Accident InjuriesIn 2019, our client, an avid cyclist and triathlete, was riding his bike when he sustained serious injuries when he was hit by a car. Our client was crossing through an intersection when the defendant driver failed to yield the right of way, striking our client. The impact ejected our client from his bicycle and tossed him through the air. and he landed violently onto the pavement. Our client was transported from the scene to a nearby hospital to treat his injuries. The defendant was found to be at-fault for causing the accident and was issued a citation by the Sylvania Police Department.
At the hospital, our client’s injuries were revealed to be very serious in nature. He had sustained a bowel rupture, splenic laceration, complete tear of his right rotator cuff, intra-abdominal hemorrhage, a concussion, and a fractured thumb. He was rushed into emergency surgery upon arrival at the hospital to attend to his bowel injury and surgeons were required to resect several inches of his colon. He remained in the hospital for the next week until he was stable enough to continue his recovery at home. When he was well enough, our client began physical therapy for his shoulder injury. Unfortunately, physical therapy was unable to reduce our client’s pain and he was required to undergo surgery to repair his torn rotator cuff.
