$100,000 Settlement – Prison Guard Assaulted By Inmates Sustains Serious Injury

In 2016, our client sustained serious injuries when he was assaulted by multiple inmates while working as a security guard at a Toledo area correctional facility. As a result of the brutal assault, our client sustained injuries to his head, face, and ribs. At the hospital, our client was diagnosed with a hemorrhage and contusion to his left eye, lacerations to his head, a chest wall contusion, and concussion.

Though his initial injuries eventually healed, the traumatic assault took a significant toll on our client’s mental and emotional health as he started to experience signs of anxiety and depression. Our client sought therapy to cope with the incident and he was diagnosed by his psychiatrist with post-traumatic stress disorder. Our client was unable to work for a significant period of time, resulting in lost wages.

We were contacted to assist our client in his recovery shortly after the accident occurred and were successful in obtaining a satisfactory settlement for our client from his employer through a workers’ compensation claim.
