$100,000 Settlement – Passenger Sustains Numerous Injuries When Car is Hit by Drunk Driver
Car Accident InjuriesIn May 2019, our client was a passenger in a car traveling through Hancock County, Ohio when she sustained serious injuries in a motor vehicle accident. Our client’s husband was driving along the road when the defendant driver lost control of his vehicle and hit the couple’s car head on. The Hancock County Sheriff Department responded to the scene and it was discovered that the defendant had been driving under the influence. Our client was taken to a nearby hospital to treat her injuries.
At the hospital, our client was diagnosed with a lacerated kidney, left rib fracture, whiplash, and injury to her cervical spine. She was admitted to the hospital overnight for observation, but luckily none of her injuries required surgical intervention. After the accident, our client suffered with severe continued pain and followed up with an orthopedic surgeon, who stated that it was likely our client would eventually need surgery to alleviate the pain in her cervical spine. Our client also developed severe anxiety centered around driving, to the point where she could no longer drive herself places.
We were contacted by our client shortly after the accident to assist her in her recovery. We were able to completely avoid the need for our client to ever set foot into a courtroom as we were able to obtain a satisfactory settlement for her. The amount we were able to obtain for our client against the defendant, however, was not enough to adequately compensate her for the extent of her injuries. Luckily, our client was covered under an underinsured motorist policy and we were able to double her recovery by obtaining an additional settlement under that policy.
