‘Tipsy Tow’ Service Is Offered By AAA This Holiday Weekend
This weekend in northwest Ohio, AAA is making it easier for those out celebrating to stay safe. In an effort to educate motorists about safe driving practices and to reduce the amount of traffic-related crashes, they are offering Tipsy Tow service this Labor Day weekend. The service will last 6 p.m. August 31 through 6 a.m. September 1, from 6 p.m. September 1 through 6 a.m. September 2, and from 6 p.m. September 2 through 6 a.m. September 3.
While AAA is encouraging all those who are celebrating to designate a driver if they are planning to drink, the tow service is there for those who are impaired and need someone to get them and their vehicles home safely. Those that are in need of this service are to call 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357) during the times listed above and state that they need a “Tipsy Tow.” They will have to provide their name, home address, phone number and the location of their vehicle.
So what is covered in this service?
Tipsy Tow service is a one-way ride for the driver and their vehicle and is provided at no cost for up to 10 miles. For trips that are longer than 10 miles, those using the program can expect a to be charged the company’s standard towing rate. It cannot be used for a ride to another establishment to consume more alcohol. On top of the ride program, other services include requests to help start a vehicle, changing a flat tire, and gas delivery.
