Hancock County Teen Driver Involved In Crash

A 16-year-old girl was involved in a serious crash in Hancock County overnight.

The crash happened on Country Road 313 at around midnight when the teen girl, from Bluffton, was attempting to pass another vehicle full of her friends. While doing so, the girl lost control of her vehicle and hit a utility pole.

The SUV the girl was driving wrapped around the pole and was totaled as a result. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time and has been taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment.

We have not heard word on her condition at this time, but our office’s thoughts and prayers are with the girl and her family during this difficult time.

Teen Driving Safety Reminder

While this accident is a horrific reminder of the dangers of teen driving, it does serve as an eye-opener for other teens in the area. We recently posted articles in our blog explaining teen driver safety and what parents must know to help ensure that their teens are safe.

In these articles, we pointed out the fact that the most dangerous time of a teen driver’s life is the first 12 months after they receive their license.

Teens are inexperienced on the roadways and they are not as used to reacting to certain things that may happen as they drive.

It is extremely important for parents of teen drivers to teach their children by example behind the wheel and help them to learn how to become safe drivers. We shared the “Top 10 Things Many Parents Don’t Know About Teen Driving” in our blog and we highly recommend that all parents read this list.
