Free Rides, Towing To Cut Down On Drunk Driving
A partner company, Dick’s Towing, will offer the same service in Hancock County.
The service includes a one-way trip home from wherever the person is (a bar, a party or other social gathering) plus a tow home for the person’s car.
The goal of the effort, says ABCO president Steve Zimmerman, is to give patrons an option for getting home other than driving while they’re intoxicated. This is the second year for the program, and he said it was the tow truck drivers’ idea to run the program again this year.
Hancock County residents may call Dick’s Towing at 419-424-1733to get a free ride or tow on New Year’s Eve. In Toledo, call ABCO at 419-536-6123 for the service. The service will be available from midnight until 3 a.m.
We are happy to see this program being implemented and sincerely hope it is able to prevent alcohol-related car accidents from occurring on an otherwise happy holiday night.
