Ford Recalls Almost 435,000 Vehicles
Ford Recalls Almost 435,000 Vehicles

Ford has recalled almost 435,000 cars that require fixing due to a rusting frame or faulty seats. The 435,000 total includes two recalls:

  • Ford Escapes – 386,000 from 2007 through 2004 model years.
  • Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escapes, C-MAX – 49,000 from model years 2013 and 2014

Ford Recall: Rusting Subframes

According to a report in My Fox Detroit, the Ford Escapes were recalled due to an issue with the subframes rusting. This issue then allows a control arm to separate and hamper the steering control. There is allegedly one crash related to this recall issue at this time but there are no injuries linked to it as of now.

The Ford Escapes are affected where salt is used to clear snow and ice from roads. The recalled SUVs were sold or registered in 20 states and Washington D.C., as well as seven Canadian provinces.

Ford Recall: Improper Welding

The recall of 49,000 vehicles including the Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape, and C-MAX vehicles is due to improper welding of seat back frames. Dealers will replace the recalled seat back frames as part of the recall protocol.
