A recent autopsy on a 14-year-old girl has confirmed that there have been 5 deaths related to the energy drink Monster. The FDA is currently investigating the beverage and these allegations, which date back to 2004.

The parents of the young girl have filed a wrongful death suit and claim that the girl consumed 2 24-ounce Monster Energy Drinks in 24 hours and then died as a result of it. The autopsy performed concluded that she died of cardiac arrhythmia due to caffeine toxicity along with that, it was discovered that she had an inherited disorder that weakens the blood vessels. The parents’ lawsuit alleges that Monster failed to adequately warn consumers about the risks of drinking its products.

Monster is a leader among the growing energy drink market. Their 24-ounce cans contain 240 milligrams of caffeine. That’s seven times the amount of caffeine in a 12-ounce can.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the poor girl who passed away as a result of consuming these energy beverages.
