Settlements, Verdicts & Awards

We work hard to obtain maximum compensation for our clients. Constant communication, tough negotiating and expert trial skills have resulted in us obtaining millions of dollars in settlements for the injured.

Here are just a small portion of the damages we were able to collect on behalf of our clients. Due to the confidentiality clauses in some settlement agreements, we cannot share detailed information about many of our biggest cases on our website.

$100,000 Settlement – Woman Suffers Multiple Fractures to Foot in Motor Vehicle Accident

In 2018, our client was driving in Sandusky County, Ohio, when she was involved in a motor vehicle accident. The defendant had been stopped at a stop sign, but, failing to see our client’s vehicle approaching the intersection, the defendant driver proceeded to enter the intersection instead of yielding and collided with the car our client was driving. Our client was transported by emergency medical services to an area hospital to treat her injuries. An investigation proved the defendant to be at fault and she was subsequently cited for causing the accident.

At the hospital, x-rays revealed our client had sustained several fractures to her right foot as a result of the accident. She was placed in a fracture boot and instructed to follow up with an orthopedic doctor. Upon a follow up, the fractures proved to be more severe and our client required surgery to repair the injury. In order to fix her ankle, her orthopedic surgeon had to place an internal fixation and install hardware into our client’s ankle. Two months after the surgery, she had the wires removed from her ankle and was cleared to being physical therapy to regain her strength and mobility. Our client was also expected to need another surgery in the future, to remove the remaining hardware from her ankle.

After the accident, our client was unable to put any weight on her injured ankle for three months and was unable to work for over six months. Additionally, she continued to suffer from continued pain and stiffness in her ankle. She also now walks with a limp. It was our client’s orthopedic surgeon’s opinion that her injuries were permanent in nature and that she would experience future limitations and decreased range of motion in her ankle.

We were contacted by our client shortly after the accident to assist her in her recovery. Due to a successful negotiation, we obtained a policy limits settlement for our client and avoided the need for her to go through a stressful trial.

$100,000 Settlement – Man Suffers Injured Pelvis in Motorcycle Accident

Our client was driving his motorcycle when the defendant driver, who was driving a truck, turned in front our client’s motorcycle causing a collision that resulted in a significant injury to our client. When the defendant’s truck struck the motorcycle, our client was catapulted into the air before landing violently onto the road. He was taken via ambulance to a nearby hospital. After an investigation, the defendant was found to be at fault for causing the accident and was cited.

Our client was admitted to the hospital, where doctors determined he had suffered injury to his pelvic joint. The following day, he underwent surgery to repair the injury to his pelvis and surgeons were required to place metal plates to stabilize the injury. Once he was discharged from the hospital, our client began physical therapy and was expected to make a full recovery from the accident.

Shortly after the accident, our client contacted us to assist him in his recovery. Although at first it appeared that the at-fault driver had liability insurance, it turned out that he had not added the vehicle to the policy prior to the collision with our client. Luckily, our client was covered under an underinsured motorist policy through his own auto insurance and we were able to obtain a policy limits settlement for him under that policy.

$100,000 Settlement – Man Suffers Severe Injury to His Hand in Auto Accident

In 2014, while on his way to work, our client sustained severe injuries in a motor vehicle accident. As our client was traveling northbound on Douglas Road in Toledo, Ohio, the defendant driver failed stop at a red light coming off Interstate 475 and struck our client’s car at 60 miles per hour. The impact from the collision caused our client’s vehicle to roll over and strike another car. After an investigation, the defendant was found to be at fault for the accident and was cited for failing to stop at the red light.

After the accident, our client remained in the hospital for the next four days to treat his injuries as he was found to have sustained injury to his neck and back, along with a complex hand laceration that required numerous stitches. Upon his release from the hospital, our client required extensive therapy to regain mobility and strength and was also required to attend many follow up medical appointments. The injury to our client’s hand was so severe that it resulted in extensive scarring and lack of mobility. As a result, it was expected that he would have to undergo scar revisions and a skin grafting procedure to attempt to increase his range of motion.

Not only did our client face serious injuries, but he also incurred substantial medical bills and expected to incur more medical expenses in the future due to the likelihood of additional medical procedures. Our client was also the main provider for his family. After the accident, he was unable to work for six months, which put a significant financial strain on him and his family.

We were contacted to assist our client shortly after the accident. Luckily, due to a successful negotiation we obtained a satisfactory policy limits settlement for our client without the need for a lengthy and complicated trial.

$100,000 Settlement – Elderly Woman Sustains Spinal Injury and Broken Ribs in Auto Accident

In August 2014, our 82-year-old client sustained severe injuries when she was involved in a motor vehicle accident. As our client was driving, the defendant driver failed to see our client’s oncoming car and pulled out in front of her causing a collision between the two vehicles. Emergency medical services were called to the scene and our client was transferred by ambulance to a nearby hospital. After an investigation, the defendant was found to be at fault for causing the accident and was cited.

At the hospital, our client was diagnosed with several broken ribs and an injury to her spinal cord. She was admitted to the hospital for the next five days to treat her injuries and regain her strength. Our client was then discharged from the hospital to an inpatient rehabilitation facility, where she remained for the following two months to further her recovery. Prior to this accident, our elderly client was able to live on her own and maintained an extremely independent lifestyle. The accident and the injuries she sustained took such a physical toll on her that now she is unable to live independently, and her impairments leave her unable to do the things she did prior to the accident.

Shortly after the accident occurred, our client’s daughter contacted our firm to assist them in her mother’s recovery. We were able to completely avoid the need for our client to ever set foot into a courtroom as we were able to obtain a satisfactory settlement for her. As a result of the accident, our client incurred and will continue to incur a substantial amount of medical bills she would have otherwise not had. The settlement we were able to secure for her will go a long way to ensure that she is able to receive the necessary medical treatments and other things she now requires.

$100,000 Settlement – Woman Killed In Auto Accident Caused By Intoxicated Driver

In July 2015, our client was a passenger in a car traveling northbound on U.S. Route 127 when the car was involved in a motor vehicle accident. The defendant driver, who had been involved in another accident prior to this one, was stopped on the roadway when the car our client was traveling in struck the defendant’s car, traveled off the right side of the road, and landed in a ditch. Our client was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital to treat her injuries. Unfortunately, she had sustained massive internal injuries and sadly passed away a few days after the accident. After an investigation, it was discovered that the defendant had been under the influence of alcohol and had a BAC level of .162 at the time of the accident – more than twice the legal limit.

We were contacted by the family just days after this horrific accident occurred and our team worked to help the grieving family through this difficult time by ensuring they got the justice they deserved. There is no amount of money that can account for the loss of one’s life or take away the pain that our client’s family has endured, but we were successful in reaching a settlement that will assist our client’s family as they move forward.

$100,000 Settlement – 23-Year-Old Passenger Left on the Side of The Road by Intoxicated and Uninsured Driver

In March 2014, our client was riding as a passenger in a friend’s car when he was involved in a life-threatening motor vehicle accident. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the car to go off the road and hit a trailer before coming to a stop. The driver had been consuming alcohol prior to the accident and was driving intoxicated when the crash occurred. Due to being intoxicated, the driver fled the scene of the accident and failed to report the crash. Our client was left bleeding profusely at the scene by the driver. First responders arrived at the scene and transported our client via life flight to a nearby hospital to treat his injuries.

As a result of the accident, our client sustained a right hip fracture and open femur fracture of his right leg. The injury to his femur also caused him to lose a significant amount of blood. Our client underwent orthopedic surgery to repair both injuries. The fractures were so severe that they required the implantation of several rods and screws to stabilize his femur. Our client remained hospitalized for five days and was then discharged to continue his recovery at an inpatient rehabilitation facility, where he remained for three weeks. Upon being discharged, he required months of intense physical therapy, was unable to live by himself for several weeks, and was forced to be off work for over six months.

This was an extremely tragic accident for someone who was so young and in excellent physical condition prior to the accident. As a result of this collision, our client will have to live with permanent consequences. Due to the nature of his leg injury and the surgery required to fix it, our client’s right leg is now significantly shorter than his left leg, resulting in a permanent limp. The accident has also taken a significant physical and emotional toll on our client. He now has trouble completing his daily routine, and activities he did easily before the accident cause him great difficulty.

Our firm was contacted to assist our client with his recovery from this traumatic incident and our dedicated team worked tirelessly to ensure that he received a favorable result. Although the at-fault driver of the car did not have insurance, luckily our client had purchased uninsured motorist coverage from his own auto insurance policy. Through negotiations, we were successful in obtaining a policy limits settlement offer for our client through his own underinsured motorist insurance policy. While our client can never be made completely whole due to the permanent nature of his injuries, the settlement we secured for him will go a long way to account for his pain and suffering and help him as he moves forward, and his case is an excellent example of why it’s critical for Ohio drivers to purchase uninsured motorist coverage to protect them from driver’s like the one in this case.

$100,000 Settlement – Pedestrian Struck When Crossing Street Suffers Traumatic Brain Injury and Severe Injury to Her Leg

In 2013, our client was severely injured when she was hit by the defendant driver. Our client, a professor at Ohio Northern University, was walking across a street on campus when she was struck by the defendant driver. The impact of the accident knocked our client unconscious and she had no memory of being hit by the car. From the scene, our client was transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance to assess and treat her injuries.

As a result of the accident, our client sustained a mild traumatic brain injury with brain bleed, fractures to her left knee and leg, and multiple contusions. The injury to her knee was so severe, it was essentially crushed. To repair the injury, our client underwent an extensive operation where surgeons worked to rebuild her knee, and her meniscus had to be removed. Our client remained in the hospital for over a week. She was then discharged to an inpatient rehabilitation facility where she remained for the next ten weeks. In the weeks following the accident, our client developed debilitating vertigo that required her to undergo vestibular therapy. This regression made our client’s rehabilitation much more difficult. She also required intensive physical therapy to increase her range of motion and regain strength in her leg and knee, and now requires a cane to assist her with walking.

Not only did our client sustain serious physical injuries from the accident, but she has also incurred a significant amount of medical bills directly related to the accident. It is also likely that she will continue to incur significant medical costs as she is expected to need a knee replacement in the future.

We were retained to assist our client in her recovery from this horrible accident and were able to completely avoid the need for any litigation as we obtained a policy limits settlement for her. The settlement we were able to secure for her will go a long way toward ensuring that she can receive the necessary medical treatments and surgical procedures she will now require.

$95,000 Settlement – Passenger Sustained Bilateral Meniscus Tears in Motor Vehicle Accident

In 2017, our client was riding as a passenger in a car when it was involved in a motor vehicle accident. As the car our client was riding in proceeded through the intersection of Collingwood Boulevard and Bancroft Street in Toledo, Ohio, the defendant driver failed to stop at the red light, striking the vehicle. The Toledo Police Department responded to the scene of the accident and cited the defendant driver for failing to stop at a red light. As a result of the accident, our client sustained serious injuries to both of his knees. He was diagnosed with a tear to both his left and right meniscus and was required to undergo surgery to repair the injuries.

Our office originally filed suit in Lucas County for claims of negligence. Luckily, due to a successful negotiation we obtained a settlement for our client without him ever needing to set foot in a courtroom for trial. The settlement we were able to obtain for our client will go a long way to account for his injuries and the medical expenses he has occurred.
