2021 Boyk Law Veteran Scholarship Winner

Charles E. Boyk Law Offices, LLC is committed to supporting the servicemen and women who help make this country so great. In order to help them pursue their dreams after serving, we decided to create the Boyk Law Veterans Scholarship in order to help relieve the financial stress that is often associated with higher education. The Boyk Law Veterans Scholarship was created in 2015 and has been helping those who have either served in the Armed Forces themselves or are children of US Veterans ever since.

This year’s scholarship received countless qualified applicants, making the selection incredibly difficult. After careful consideration, we are excited to announce that Marcos Alvarez has been selected as the winner of the 2021 Boyk Law Veteran Scholarship!

2021 Winner: Marcos Alvarez

Marcos was born in Southern California and currently attends Rio Hondo College where he majors in Electric Vehicles and Fuel Cell technology. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from U.C. Berkeley in 2018, where he graduated with honors. Currently, Marcos is the owner of a vehicle services business that helps support veterans in his community by providing high-tech mobile mechanic services. In addition to his academic achievements, he has received two Army Commendations and two Army Achievement Medals for his technical expertise and valorous service.

We are so grateful for Marcos and his service and are excited to see what he does next!

Here is what Marcos had to say when he found out he was selected as the winner of the 2021 Boyk Law Veterans Scholarship:

“Thank you very much, Charles E. Boyk, for giving me the honor of communicating my veteran experience with you and being your scholarship winner on this Veteran’s Day. For me, Veteran’s Day is not a day of celebration but a day of reflection, and writing for your scholarship was profoundly meditative and reflective.

Explaining the veteran experience to the non-military populace is extremely difficult due to the gravity of the situation. Winning the scholarship has made me feel listened to and understood. Thank you for the scholarship, and thank you very much for hearing my story.
