Pawyer Penny‘s 10th Birthday
Penny, the Grand Dame of Boyk Pawyers, celebrated her 10th birthday recently. She celebrated with an intimate gathering of two and more-legged friends at Boyk Law’s Holland Office. Staff and other Pawyers serenaded her with birthday greetings and well wishes as she enjoyed some birthday cake.
Penny, is a pioneering legal beagle, er French Bulldog. She was the first of Boyk Law’s long succession of office dogs. When attorney Leah Michael worked as a paralegal in Charles Boyk Law’s Downtown Toledo Office, she dreamed of bringing a dog to work with her. She started sending articles to Chuck, about the benefits of having emotional support animals in the office.
“I sort of convinced Chuck that it was a good idea,” says Leah. Paralegal Nancy Thomas brought Penny into work with her as a test pup and changed Boyk Law forever. “Everybody fell in love with Penny, and then it just grew from there,” says Leah.
“The lease specifically said we couldn’t have dogs,” says Chuck Boyk, “but the funny thing was the people who came up and played with the dogs the most were the people who worked for the building. Now we have five or six dogs in the office every day.”
Happy 10th Birthday, Penny! Because you were such a “good girl”, you broke through the fur ceiling for future generations of Boyk Pawyers and Paw Clerks.
