Final 2025 Bikes for Kids Winners Selected
Charles Boyk Law’s 17th annual Bikes for Kids Contest has been the biggest giveaway ever! Boyk Law gave away 15 bikes this summer to deserving kids who were nominated by family, friends and educators.
Daniel is our 2025 Bikes for Kids Week 7 winner. He was nominated by his Aunt Rhonda, who told us he has faced some challenges in life. He has autism, and was recently placed in the custody of his other Aunt because of an unfortunate domestic situation. Rhonda’s Bikes for Kids nomination said, “Daniel doesn’t have many toys or a bike. He is such a sweet, deserving young man, and to have a bike to call his own at a time like this could certainly help him be a kid again.”
Boyk Law is happy to help Daniel. We selected him to receive a free bike in his favorite color, as part of our Bikes for Kids Contest. Jill at Wersell’s Bike Shop gave him a matching blue helmet and bike lock, along with some expert riding tips.
Our week 8 winner is Michael. He was nominated by his teacher for his excellent academic performance. She said, “Michael is an amazing young man
with a very bright future.” She also told us about Michael’s involvement in his school’s Aspiring Educators Program and how he is always willing to help others out. “He has been an amazing peer mentor to our new student who speaks very little to no English,” she said. “Michael volunteered to help them with their homework and with learning English as a second language.”
Charles Boyk Law selected Joey as the week 9 winner. He was nominated by his teacher at Hawkins STEM Academy in Toledo Public Schools for his excellent academics and enduring spirit in the face of Final 2025 Bikes for Kids Winners Selected challenges. She told us, “Joey is truly deserving of winning a new bike because he consistently puts forth his best effort and works hard every day, no matter the challenge… despite facing hardships, he remains positive and determined every day. He does not have a bike of his own, and receiving one would not only bring him joy, but also reward his dedication and perseverance.”
Christine Smith is a 7th-grade math teacher at Larchmont Elementary School in the Toledo Public District. She nominated Hunter for Boyk Law’s Bikes for Kids Contest. Ms. Smith said, “Hunter
is a very hard-working student. She is also super helpful in my class as well! All around great kid! Hunter is such a great citizen. She is always positive and
kind to other students. She goes the extra mile in helping with anything in the classroom. Her honesty is excellent… she is a top student and takes her time to complete work to her best ability. I couldn’t ask for a better student.”
Chuck Boyk launched our Bike for Kids Giveaway 17 years ago to promote bicycle safety and give back to the community. Since its inception, the program has given away over 180 bikes to deserving children. Boyk Law always buys the bikes from Wersell’s, Toledo’s oldest bike shop. Wersell’s is celebrating their 80th anniversary in 2025. We thank Wersell’s for their continued participation of our Bikes for Kids contest, and for fitting all of our winners with bikes that will last them for years to come. Congratulations to all of our 2025 Bikes for Kids Winners! We can’t wait to do it again next year!
