Deaths Down From Crashes In Ohio
We are happy to report the number of deaths from crashes has decreased. However, according to the Sandusky Register, the number of motorists killed in vehicle accidents decreased across the state but remained the same in their four-county region.
Vehicle Accident Fatalities
Erie County – vehicle deaths stayed the same
Ottawa County – one less death from a vehicle accident
Sandusky County – one more death from a vehicle accident
Huron County – two more deaths from a vehicle accident
Fatalities in 2013
There were 33 victims of crashes throughout the year. One-third of these fatalities all occurred in a one-month span from November 20th – December 23rd.
A Victim’s Story
One of the vehicle accident victims from 2013 is currently at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Dakota Schaffer is in stable condition at this time after being the passenger in a Ford Focus that was in an accident on December 22.
Schaffer was in a friend’s vehicle, Garret Holmes, when he lost control and veered off of the road. The Ford Focus went into a ditch; hit a barn and landscaping before then colliding with a tree. The driver of the vehicle died from injuries and Schaffer has been in the hospital ever since.
Our office sends our sympathy to the Holmes family as they deal with the loss of their young boy. We also send well wishes to Dakota Schaffer and her family as she fights to recover.
