Disabled Woman Injured by Southwest Airlines
In November 2017, our client was traveling via Southwest Airlines from Columbus, Ohio to Chicago, Illinois and required the use of a wheelchair for transportation across the airport. When boarding began, our client was seated near the ticket agent waiting to be assisted to board the flight. A Southwest Airlines employee began pushing our client’s wheelchair extremely fast while ignoring our client’s pleas for him to slow down and failing to take any action to fasten the seatbelt. As the employee was pushing our client in the wheelchair, the wheels became stuck causing our client to be thrown forward out of the wheelchair.
As a direct result of the defendant’s negligence and breach of their duty of care, our client suffered serious and permanent personal injuries. Our client required hospitalization and surgery which resulted in substantial medical costs. Additionally, our client experienced extreme pain and suffering, severe mental anguish, and emotional distress. She also faces significant limitations in daily life that result in a loss of enjoyment. Our client believes that her injuries are permanent in nature and will require future medical attention.
