CASES OF INTEREST: MARCH 2025
Vehicle Hits Pedestrian in a Crosswalk
A vehicle was stopped at a red light facing southbound on Bowen Road at the intersection of W. Sylvania Avenue. When the light turned green, the vehicle began to make a left turn onto W. Sylvania Avenue. At the same time, our client was walking legally in the crosswalk across W. Sylvania Avenue. The vehicle struck our client. Toledo Fire Department came to the scene and took our client to Toledo hospital. The driver of the vehicle was cited with failure to observe the right of way in a crosswalk by the Toledo Police Department.
Upon arrival at the hospital, it was decided emergency surgery was necessary. Our client’s foot had a Grade 3A open ankle fracture, which was so bad that amputation was discussed. Thankfully, the surgeons were able to save her foot. They input plates and screws into her leg and ankle. She then required a stay at a rehabilitation center where she received therapy for her ankle.
Charles Boyk and his team quickly went to work to help our client. His team was able to work with the driver’s insurance company to come to a settlement. Our client agreed to a full policy limits settlement. Our firm will continue helping our client with her medical bills and healthcare liens while she is focusing on her treatment.
Car Accident Causes Months of Treatment for a Wrist Injury
Our client was driving in a roundabout at the intersection of McCord Road and Dorr Street in Springfield Township. She exited the roundabout north onto McCord Road. However, at the same time, a vehicle changed lanes into the lane our client was driving in, causing our client to strike the vehicle. The other driver was cited with a failure to change lanes with due care violation.
After having pain in her wrist, our client sought medical treatment. After different diagnostic testing, she was diagnosed with a fracture. She has since gone through therapy, and multiple appointments with doctors. She was also diagnosed with damage to a ligament in her thumb. She will likely require surgery in the future to help with her injuries. She also has many issues in her day-to-day life, as she is right-hand dominant.
Charles Boyk and his team are working with our client to track her medical bills, speak with insurance companies, and prove the liability of the other driver so our client can solely focus on her treatment. We will work diligently to make sure our client receives the compensation she deserves.
Medical Transport Accident Unfortunately Leads to a Client Fatality
Our client, a woman permanently in a wheelchair, was being transported from her home to a dentist appointment. She was not strapped into the car correctly. Due to the diver’s erratic driving, he was required to slam on the brakes, which caused our client to fly out of her seat. She was taken to the hospital and treated, where it was found that the impact broke her femur. She required hospitalization for 5 days and was sent home to do physical therapy.
Two weeks after the accident, our client came down with a fever and had low blood pressure. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where it was found she had an infection in her leg. Sadly, our client passed away due to her injuries.
Charles Boyk and his team have been helping our client since her accident and is now fully committed to helping her family during this time. Charles Boyk is dedicated to investigating this matter and achieving the justice that our client’s family deserves.
