CASES OF INTEREST: DECEMBER 2024

Death of Mother and Sister Leads to a Probate Court Dispute

A semi-truck was driving in Texas on US 84 East. He approached an intersection, and due to being drowsy, did not stop at the stop sign. The semi-truck crashed into a vehicle, killing a mother and her daughter and severely injuring the 5-month-old child in the car.

Our client is the daughter, sister, and aunt of the injured parties. Her mother sadly died intestate. Her stepfather filed an application for an Independent Administration in the Probate Court which is handling this matter. Our client came to our firm for help in protecting her rights to her mother’s estate.

Our client has suffered greatly from this incident. Our firm is dedicated to assisting her in making sure she retains her right to her mother’s estate. Andrea Young and her team are working diligently to protect our client’s rights and make sure she is entitled to what she deserves.

Man Shot in the Face by a Rowdy Bar Patron

Our client went to the Old Stoney Ledge in Findlay for a drink. While he was there, another customer of the bar was causing a scene. The other customer was asked to stop drinking alcohol many times. Our client proceeded to leave the bar but turned around as he realized he had forgotten his phone. As he was walking back into the bar, the disorderly customer raised a gun and shot our client in the jaw, and continued to keep shooting at him.

Our client thankfully got help quickly and was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital before being life-flighted to The Ohio State University Medical Hospital. He underwent surgery for his injuries and will require future surgeries as well. His mouth is currently wired shut and he is unable to return to work for many weeks.

In the future, our client will require numerous medical treatments and appointments. Our firm is helping him pursue a claim against the shooter. Andrea Young and her team are working with our client to track his treatment, work with the Prosecutor’s office, and work with the insurance companies on this matter.

Man Thrown Off of Golf Cart Due to Drunk Driver

Our client was on a street-legal golf cart with four others in Point Place, Ohio. A drunk driver was turning on to 131st street. The vehicle hit the golf cart, ejecting our client from the golf cart. Thankfully, everyone else managed to stay on the golf cart. Police came to the scene and the other driver was arrested for DUI and failing to remain in the marked lanes. Our client was later diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff and a torn labrum.

Charles Boyk and his team are currently pursuing a claim against the driver of the vehicle. Our goal is to get our client the necessary support and assistance to aid in his recovery process and alleviate the financial strain caused by the accident. We are committed to advocating for our client’s rights and holding the responsible party accountable for their actions.
