$255,000 Settlement – Man Injured on the Job When Autoloader Falls on Him
Workplace InjuriesIn 2014, our client was working when he sustained serious and permanent injuries in a workplace accident. Our client, a resident of Japan, had traveled to Bluffton, Ohio, for work to assist with the placement and operation of an autoloader that had been sold by our client’s employer to an automotive corporation. The automotive corporation hired the defendants, a heavy machinery moving company, to transport the autoloader from a loading dock to its final location on the factory floor. As the defendants were positioning the autoloader, they allowed it to become unstable, causing it to fall on our client and resulting in severe and debilitating injuries. Our client was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital to treat his injuries. At the hospital, he was found to have sustained a severe fracture to his right femur and multiple pelvic fractures. Due to the extent of his injuries, he required hospitalization and surgical intervention to treat his injuries.
We were retained to assist our client shortly after this horrific accident occurred. We filed suit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, but through successful negotiations we avoided trial and obtained a large settlement for our client. While our client will likely feel the pain from this accident both physically and financially well into the future, the settlement we recovered on his behalf will go a long way to account for his pain and suffering.
