$250,000 Settlement – Man Sustains Severe and Permanent Injury Due to Auto Accident

On an early morning in April 2017, our client had just finished working and was on his way home when his day took a drastic turn. As our client drove through an intersection, the defendant failed to yield at a stop sign and hit our client head on. The impact of this collision sent our client’s car off the road into a nearby field and caused his car to break apart into two pieces. Our client was ejected from his car into the field, where he lay unconscious waiting for help to arrive. Emergency services responded to the accident and our client was transported to the hospital via life flight.

At the hospital, doctors discovered that our client had suffered life-threatening injuries requiring emergency surgery to attend to their catastrophic nature. He sustained a fractured spine, broken collarbone, collapsed lungs, and lacerated spleen. As a result of the accident, our client’s spleen had to be removed due to excessive blood loss, and he also required reconstructive surgery to his chest and rib cage. Our client was placed in a medically induced coma and remained in the hospital for 17 days. Because our client did not have health insurance, he was unable to continue his recovery in an inpatient rehabilitation facility after being discharged from the hospital. This left his fiancée to become our client’s primary caretaker as he recovered. Due to the severe physical and psychological impairments our client suffered, he was extremely dependent on his fiancée.

Prior to the accident, our client was an able-bodied and healthy man who provided for his family. As the primary provider for his family, our client’s inability to work due to the seriousness of his injuries proved detrimental to the family as they struggled to have the money needed to pay their bills. Our client was less than a month away from being promoted to a permanent and full-time position that would have included a raise and medical benefits when the accident occurred.

Shortly after the traumatic accident, our client’s fiancée contacted our firm to assist them in the recovery and our team worked tirelessly to ensure that our client got the justice he deserved. We were able to completely avoid the need for our client to ever set foot into a courtroom as we were able to obtain a large policy limits settlement for our client. The settlement we were able to secure will go a long way toward ensuring that the family can meet their financial obligations and that our client can obtain the medical treatment he now requires.
