$180,000 SETTLEMENT – Passenger in Vehicle Requires Multiple Thumb Surgeries After Car Collision

Our client was sitting in the passenger seat of a car travelling eastbound on West Sylvania Avenue in Sylvania, Ohio, approaching the intersection with King Road. Another vehicle was traveling westbound on West Sylvania Avenue also approaching the intersection. The other vehicle began to make a left hand turn onto King Road and failed to yield to our client’s car. The vehicle struck our client’s car. Our client was taken to Flower Hospital by an EMS. Sylvania Police Department cited the other driver with failing to observe the right of way when turning left. After the accident, our client was evaluated and found to have a dislocated thumb, three fractured ribs, a cut on the head, and bruising on her knees, legs and feet. She required surgery on her thumb to repair a ligament, and later a thumb joint fusion.

Our client worked with Attorney Andrea Young and her team during her treatment. The case ultimately was filed into court, where the firm continued to work with the insurance company on settlement. Finally, our firm was able to negotiate an offer which our client accepted. The driver’s insurance company paid $180,000 to our client for damages.
