$160,000 Settlement – Woman Sustains Traumatic Brain Injury in Multi-Car Accident
Car Accident InjuriesIn 2011, our client sustained several injuries when she was involved in a multi-vehicle accident. Our client was struck by a car that was spinning out of control, and the impact then caused our client’s vehicle to travel across several lanes of traffic and to collide with another car. The force from the multiple collisions caused our client to lose consciousness. She was transported via ambulance to Toledo Hospital, where she was admitted to the Neurological Intensive Care Unit to treat her injuries. Our client was found to have suffered from a traumatic brain injury, a large scalp laceration that required 15 staples, and a contusion to her right ear. She remained in the hospital for monitoring for the next five days.
Once our client was stable enough to be discharged from the hospital, she was admitted to an inpatient rehabilitation facility for four days as she was suffering from cognitive deficits because of her brain injury. At the rehab facility, our client was required to undergo speech and physical therapy in efforts to rehabilitate her injuries. Once our client was discharged to go home, she still required extensive rehabilitation and continued to suffer from headaches, memory problems, and dizziness.
Our client reached out to our firm shortly after the accident for assistance in her recovery. We filed suit in the Common Pleas Court of Wood County, but through successful negotiations we avoided trial and obtained a large settlement for our client. The settlement we were able to obtain for our client will go a long way to account for the injuries and losses she incurred.
