$120,000 SETTLEMENT – Woman Pushed into Oncoming Vehicle After Being Rear-Ended by Work Truck Traveling at High Speed Sustains Serious Injuries
This accident occurred in 2022 when our client – who was traveling with her minor child – was waiting to make a left-hand turn onto County Road Q1 in Henry County, Ohio. While she was yielding and motionless, our client was rear-ended by another driver who was traveling 50 miles per hour. This forceful impact propelled our client’s vehicle into another oncoming vehicle, heading in the opposite direction, that was traveling approximately 55 miles per hour. The Henry County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and cited the at-fault party for failure to maintain an assured clear distanced. Our client and her minor child were transported from the scene via ambulance to a nearby hospital for their injuries. There, our client was observed to have broken several front teeth and have a gaping 10 cm laceration on her scalp, which required numerous stapled and sutures. She was also diagnosed with a left comminuted clavicle fracture, which required surgery with hardware.
Quickly after the accident, our client contacted our office. Pre-suit settlement negotiations were unsuccessful, so Charles Boyk and his litigation team filed a lawsuit against the at-fault party and the owner of vehicle he was driving. After going through the discovery process and taking depositions, our client’s case was settled for $120,000 during mediation.
