In 2018, our clients were traveling through Sylvania, Ohio when they were involved in a motor vehicle accident. As our client and his father were driving along U.S. 23 in Sylvania, Ohio, the defendant driver rear-ended them. The impact caused the father to lose control of the vehicle. The car then went airborne, rolled several times, and landed in a nearby ditch. Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported our clients to a nearby hospital to evaluate their injuries.
Luckily, the son in this accident did not sustain any permanent physical injuries, but he did experience significant shoulder and elbow pain following the accident. Our client suffered with this continued pain for a lengthy period of time and it had a significant impact on him as a young, full-time college student.
Our client’s father was not as fortunate and suffered several severe injuries that required him to be hospitalized for several days. As a result of the accident, he sustained a traumatic brain injury and a brain bleed as well as numerous lacerations from shattered glass, which required staples. Weeks after the accident, our client was still pulling shards of glass from his body. He also suffered complications when a laceration on his elbow became severely infected. After the accident, our client suffered immensely from continued pain throughout his entire body, limiting his ability to participate in activities he once did.
We were able to completely avoid the need for our clients to ever set foot into a courtroom as we obtained a satisfactory settlement for them. The settlement we were able to secure for our clients will go a long way to compensate them for the pain and injuries they both incurred.
