$100,000 Settlement – One-Year-Old Attacked by Family Dog
Dog Bite InjuriesIn 2016, our one-year-old client was with her mother visiting her grandmother when she was bitten by the grandmother’s dog. Our client’s mother had placed her on the floor with a bottle when the grandma’s dog took the bottle from her. When the child attempted to take the bottle back from the dog, the dog bit her in the face.
Emergency medical services arrived and transported the young child to the hospital to assess her injuries. Upon evaluating her injuries, her injuries were found to be so extensive that she required transfer to a hospital better equipped to handle pediatric trauma and plastic surgery. The injury to her face was so severe that she required immediate surgery, resulting in numerous stitches to her lip and face.
Though our client’s initial injury healed, her face was left with a permanent scar that she will have to live with for the rest of her life. The trauma to the young girl’s face was so severe that she will require expensive future treatments and surgery. Even with the treatment and extensive surgical procedures that our client will undergo, her surgeon has determined that there is nothing that can be done to completely repair her face.
Shortly after the traumatic accident occurred, our client’s parents contacted our firm to assist them in their daughter’s recovery. We were able to completely avoid the need for our clients to ever set foot into a courtroom as we were able to obtain a large settlement for our client. Our client will carry the scar from this incident with her for her entire life, but the settlement we were able to secure for her will go a long way to ensure that as she grows up, she can receive the necessary medical treatments she will now require.
