$100,000 – Pedestrian Loses Both Legs When Struck by Drunk Driver

In July 2015, our client was sustained serve and life-threatening injuries when she was injured in an auto accident. She was on the road pushing an all-terrain vehicle that had broken down, headed back to her home when the defendant driver failed to maintain assured clear distance and hit our client at 55 miles per hour. The impact of the accident caused our client’s legs to be amputated. Due to the quick thinking of a witness, belts were placed on our client’s extremities to control the bleeding. Otherwise, she may have lost her life. Emergency medical services arrived and quickly transported our client from the scene to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, upon her arrival at the hospital she required transportation via life flight to a hospital better equipped to handle the catastrophic nature of her injuries. The defendant driver was taken to an area jail where he blew a .098 BAC level, over the legal limit.

At the hospital, our client was diagnosed with acute blood loss and required several blood transfusions. There was so much damage to our client’s right leg that muscle and bone were exposed. Her left leg was so mangled that her foot was only attached by skin. Unfortunately, the damage was so severe that she was required to undergo surgery to amputate both of her legs. Our client also sustained trauma to her abdomen and a laceration to her pancreas that required her another surgery. Our client remained in the hospital for three weeks and was then transferred to an extended care facility to continue her recovery.

This was a tragic accident that changed our client’s life forever because of a careless intoxicated driver. Our firm was contacted to assist our client with her recovery from this traumatic incident and our dedicated team worked tirelessly to pursue a financial recovery for her. Through negotiations, we were successful in avoiding litigation and obtained a policy limits settlement for our client. While our client can never be made completely whole due to the injuries she sustained, the substantial settlement we secured for her will go a long way to account for her pain and suffering and help him as she moves forward.

$100,000 – Woman Injured in Auto Accident When Driver Fails to Stop at Stop Sign

In October 2015, our client was involved in a motor vehicle accident and sustained significant injuries. The defendant driver failed to properly stop at a posted stop sign, causing him to T-bone the right side of our client’s car. Our client’s car sustained heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene, and our client was transported by emergency medical services to a nearby hospital to treat her injuries. After an investigation, the defendant driver was found to be at fault and was cited by the Findlay Police Department. At the hospital, our client was found to have sustained a severe compound fracture to her right ankle and several broken ribs. She remained in the hospital for the next six days.

At the time of the accident, our client was wearing an ankle bracelet. This complicated her injuries because, due to the impact from the car accident, the bracelet became imbedded into her leg near the bone at the fracture site. She was required to undergo a surgical procedure to remove the bracelet and reduce the ankle fracture. Unfortunately, our client was forced to undergo a second surgical procedure two days later to further repair the injury. During the second surgery, our client’s surgeon placed metal hardware to stabilize our client’s ankle. As a result of this second surgery, our client suffered from acute blood loss and she required several blood transfusions. After being discharged from the hospital, our client went to an inpatient nursing facility, where she remained for several months.

Three months after the accident, our client was still unable to bear any weight on her injured ankle. Because of this, she was unable to begin physical therapy for a substantial period of time and was expected to need long term physical therapy. Our client’s prognosis was very guarded, as her orthopedic surgeon was unsure how the injury would heal and even warned our client that there was a possibility that she would require an amputation.

We were contacted to by our client’s daughter to help assist our client in her recovery. Through successful negotiations, we obtained a policy limits settlement that will go a long way toward assisting our client in her recovery and accounting for the losses she sustained.

$100,000 Settlement – Woman Suffers Extreme Injuries When Involved in Motorcycle Accident

In 2014, our client was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle when it was involved in a motor vehicle accident. The motorcycle was stopped for a red light at the intersection of U.S. 20 and State Route 15 when the defendant driver failed to stop, striking the rear of the motorcycle. The impact caused our client’s motorcycle to collide with another vehicle that was in the process of making a turn. Our client was ejected from the motorcycle and knocked unconscious. When emergency medical services arrived, our client was taken via life flight to a nearby hospital. The driver of the motorcycle unfortunately died at the scene.

At the hospital, our client was found to have suffered catastrophic injuries. She was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, brain contusion, multiple rib fractures, a right leg fracture, a left ankle fracture, a fractured pelvis, and a collapsed lung. Additionally, due to violent nature of the accident, our client was disemboweled. In attempt to save her life, our client underwent several major and extensive surgeries. Due to the severity of her injuries, our client was unconscious and in a coma for an extended period of time.  Unfortunately, our client’s injuries from the accident were so serious that she required around the clock care and will likely remain in a nursing facility for the rest of her life. This is especially tragic, as our client was only 35 years old at the time of the accident.

This was a horrific accident that changed our client’s life forever. Our firm was contacted to assist with her recovery, and our dedicated team worked tirelessly for her. Through negotiations, we were successful in avoiding litigation and obtaining a policy limits settlement for our client. While our client can never be made whole due to the permanent nature of her injuries, the settlement we secured for her will help account for her pain and suffering and will help her receive the required medical treatments and care she now requires.

$100,000 Settlement – United States Postal Worker Viciously Attacked by Great Dane

In October 2013, our client, a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, was delivering mail on his regularly scheduled route when he was attacked by a dog. As our client was walking, the Great Dane approached him and began to viciously attack him, biting our client in the genital region. Once our client was able to free himself away from the dog, he realized he had suffered serious injury and immediately sought treatment at a nearby hospital.

Upon an examination, it was discovered that our client sustained severe bite injuries to his genitals. Our client underwent a surgical procedure the following day that required numerous stitches, reconstruction, and repair to his urethra. While our client’s initial injuries eventually healed, he still faced continued pain, and was warned by doctors that scar tissue could cause future complications.

The injuries that our client suffered greatly affected not only him, but also his family. As the only source of income, the family suffered a financial strain as our client was unable to work for two months. Prior to the accident, our client was an active and involved father to four young children, however, after the accident, our client’s wife was forced to take care of their children on her own as our client’s injury was severe and greatly impacted his mobility. Our client also began to experience a significant amount of anxiety and depression, causing him to seek therapy.

We were contacted to assist our client in his recovery just days after the attack occurred. We completely avoided the need for trial due to a successful negotiation, and we obtained a policy limits settlement for our client that will go a long way to assist him in his recovery and account for the losses he sustained.

In 2016, our client was driving in Toledo, Ohio when he was severely injured in a motor vehicle accident. Our client had a green light and made his way through the intersection. As he did, the defendant driver, whose light was red, ran the red light causing a collision between the two vehicles. When emergency medical services arrived on the scene of the accident, our client was transported to the hospital due to the extent of his injuries.

At the hospital, our client was diagnosed with a fracture to his left hip. $100,000 – 23-Year-Old Sustains Significant Injury in Rollover Car Crash Due to Uninsured and Unlicensed Driver

In May 2014, our client was traveling southbound on State Route 199 in Perrysburg, Ohio when she sustained serious injuries in a rollover motor vehicle accident. The defendant driver struck our client when he failed to yield at a stop sign, causing our client’s car to rollover and land on its roof. When emergency medical services arrived, our client was found hanging upside down in the car and she had to be extracted from her vehicle. Our client was taken to a nearby hospital to treat her injuries. After an investigation was conducted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the defendant driver was found to be at fault for causing the accident and was cited. It was also discovered that the defendant did not have a license and was an uninsured driver.

Our client was admitted to the hospital, where she remained for the next five days. As a result of the accident our client was found to have sustained several fractures to her left ankle and an injury to her left knee. Due to the extensive damage to her ankle, our client required a surgical repair of her ankle in which the surgeons placed pins and screws in her ankle, as well as a large external fixator to stabilize her ankle.

Due to the nature of our client’s injury, she was unable to bear any weight on her left leg and she relied on a wheelchair to get around. For our client, that meant she was forced to take a significant amount of time off work while her injury healed. Not only did our client lose wages while she was off work, but due to the length of time off, it was unlikely she would have a position to return to when she was able to go back to work. Our client also incurred substantial medical expenses as a direct result of her injuries and was facing additional costs for another surgical procedure to remove the external fixator, plus physical therapy to regain the mobility and strength in her ankle.

Our firm was contacted just days after the accident to assist our client in her recovery. Though the at-fault driver was uninsured, our client luckily had purchased an uninsured motorist coverage policy from her own auto insurance company. Through negotiations, we were successful in obtaining a policy limits settlement under that policy. The settlement we secured for our client will go a long way to account for her pain and suffering.

This case is an excellent example of why it is critical for Ohio drivers to purchase uninsured motorist coverage to protect them from dangerous, uninsured drivers like the one in this case.

$100,000 Settlement – Woman Suffers Injury to Ankle When She is Rear-Ended in Auto Accident

In 2017, our client sustained an injury to her foot and ankle when she was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Both our client and the defendant driver were traveling in the same direction when the defendant driver failed to maintain assured clear distance and rear-ended our client. When it became apparent to our client that the defendant was going to rear-end her, she pressed her brakes to avoid a collision with the car in front of her.

The day after the accident, our client sought treatment from a chiropractor to address her foot pain. Unfortunately, the treatment did not alleviate the pain, causing our client to seek additional treatment. In attempts to reduce the pain, our client underwent several rounds of steroid injections in her ankle, a month of physical therapy, and was ordered to a wear a brace on her injured foot. When none of these treatments minimized our client’s pain, her doctor ordered an MRI which showed a tendon tear in our client’s ankle. Our client underwent surgery to repair the injury. Several weeks after the operation, our client began physical therapy again and the pain in her ankle began to improve. While our client saw great improvements from when the injury happened, she still dealt with continued pain in her ankle.

We were contacted by our client shortly after the accident to assist her in her recovery. Due to a successful negotiation, we obtained a policy limits settlement for our client and avoided the need for her to go through a stressful trial.
